Jazz at Green Room: Paul Prassel Quartett

The Cologne-based guitarist and composer Paul Prassel studied at the HfMT Cologne with Florian Ross and Bruno Müller, among others.
After completing his bachelor's degree, he went to Oslo on a DAAD scholarship, where he completed his master's degree with the renowned guitarist Lage Lund.
During this time, he deepened his enthusiasm for jazz and at the same time intensively studied classical and other forms of contemporary music.

The pieces are based on personal experiences from a life lived between Germany and Norway. Inspiration comes from different directions: from literature and film, from everyday situations, but also from the world of board games.

The quartet includes Leon Hattori, Nico Klöffer and Simon Bräumer, with whom Prassel has been playing together regularly for many years. The compositions provide a common framework, similar to a board game: the structure is always the same, but each progression creates new situations that constantly steer the interplay between the four musicians in different directions.

The band was in the studio this summer to record their first album.
