Houbara: Monita Wagma im Gespräch mit Gästen - Resonanzräume & Resilienz (korsi collective)
Korsi collective: Monita Wagma im Gespräch mit Gästen - Resonanzräume & Resilienz (Eintritt frei)
Together with guests from the music sector, we will talk about what music and resonance spaces can achieve - for event organizers and visitors alike. On the panel, artists and music makers will share their experiences, perspectives and practices. The focus will be on questions about how such spaces are created, what they set in motion and where music can take people, atmospheres and communities. The panel was curated by the Korsi Kollektiv as part of the Houbara Resonances Iran 2026 music festival and will be moderated by Monita Wagma. Invited are Parissa Charghi (Heavy Feelings, Cologne) and Guy Dermosessian (Cute Community Space, Bochum).
Korsi is an artist-run cultural collective rooted in the community that creates inclusive spaces for encounters, expression and genuine togetherness. What started as small, intimate gatherings is now a vibrant platform celebrating SWANA (Southwest Asia and North Africa) identities, artistic expression and the warmth of togetherness.
The name Korsi means "chair" in Arabic, but in Persian it stands for a heated meeting place - an image of warmth, closeness and good conversation. In the same spirit, Korsi not only invites you to come by, but to belong.
Monita Wagma is a DJ, radio presenter and humanities scholar. In her music program "Cup of Tea" on 674.FM, she talks live with guests about music, its contexts and the historical conditions in which it was created. With "Maenad Transmission", she broadcasts music from the Belgian Studio Néau in Eupen and creates sonic spaces that celebrate ritual, community and life. In addition to her commitment to promoting democracy, she studies popular music at the Folkwang University of the Arts.
Parissa Charghi is an Iranian multidisciplinary artist based in Cologne. Her practice operates at the intersection of creative direction, curatorial work, cultural production and artistic education. Her work is understood as a holistic cultural practice, focusing on the development of formats, curatorial processes and collaborative working methods. At the center is the platform she founded, HEAVY FEELINGS, a self-initiated and independently managed structure that creates independent production conditions and connects different formats, practices and communities.
Guy Dermosessian is a DJ, music collector and founder of the music label Kalakuta Soul Records. In 2023, he founded Cute Community Space (CCS), a hybrid cultural venue and radio station in Bochum dedicated to the visibility and representation of migrant culture and diasporic music.
