Foggy Notion: Lucrecia Dalt

Lucrecia Dalt was born in Pereira, Colombia, and has developed from a civil engineer into an internationally acclaimed sound artist. While working in Medellín, she discovered electronic music production - a turning point that led her to art. After her first releases via the collective Series and a contribution to the compilation 4 Women No Cry (2008), she moved to Berlin via Barcelona, where her style increasingly shifted to abstract soundscapes.
Her albums Commotus (2012), Syzygy (2013) and Ou (2015) established Dalt as an experimental voice between electronics and surrealism. With the trilogy Anticlines (2018), No era sólida (2020) and ¡Ay! (2022) on the RVNG Intl. label, she achieved international recognition - ¡Ay! was named album of the year by The Wire and was on the best lists of Pitchfork, The New York Times and NPR.
In parallel, Dalt has composed film music for HBO's The Baby (2022), On Becoming a Guinea Fowl (2024) and the horror film The Rabbit Hole (2025), among others.
With TheA Danger to Ourselves, she now presents her most personal work to date. Created from tour notes and early relationship lyrics, the album is directed inwards: Thirteen tracks, characterized by the interplay of bass, beats and fine sound textures, are created in collaboration with percussionist Alex Lázaro. Guests include David Sylvian (co-production, guitar), Juana Molina, Camille Mandoki and Eliana Joy.
The title - borrowed from Sylvian's text for cosa rara - deals with fragility, love and the desire for inner freedom. Mastered by Heba Kadry in New York, A Danger to Ourselves combines intimate emotion with sonic precision - as a high point and new beginning in Dalt's work.
