Alice Faye
With her timeless yet fresh voice, Glasgow's Alice Faye creates intricate musical tapestries, imbuing each note with her thought-provoking approach to storytelling. Her art exudes authenticity and conveys a spectrum of emotions through her compelling narratives that invite the listener to explore the complexities of human experience. Through her bold choices, Alice fearlessly expands her artistic horizons, blending classic 70's pop, 60's folk and country traditions with dramatic chanson influences from icons such as Piaf and Brel. Her work has a confessional quality similar to that of artists such as Wainwright, and is characterized by a unique and captivating vocal ability.
Combined with her unwavering musical confidence, Alice creates a vibrant, colorful musical landscape that captivates audiences.
Alice Faye's musical journey includes the release of her piano EP 'Deadbeat', where she explores themes of self-discovery and personal growth with authenticity and introspection. This EP has been highly praised by BBC Radio 2 and BBC Radio Scotland and featured in prominent publications such as The List and The Skinny.
Alice has performed at festivals such as Belladrum, Celtic Connections, Doune the Rabbit Hole, Eden Festival and Fyne Fest. She has also toured the UK with Phillip Seth Campbell, performed at prestigious jazz festivals such as Aberdeen Jazz Festival and Dundee Jazz Festival and supported renowned artists such as BMX Bandits and The Joy Hotel.
Her latest single 'Reject' is a testament to resilience and triumph, with parallels to Beck's iconic track 'Loser'. It showcases Alice's unique sound, combining elements of Elton John's honky cat piano with 70s soul-pop vibes. Recent accolades include sell-out shows in London, Edinburgh and Glasgow's Cottiers, where she has captivated audiences and earned a loyal following that includes respected musicians such as Nick Lowe, Belle & Sebastian and Nadine Shah.
Alice Faye was awarded "Best Acoustic Act" at the Scottish Alternative Music Awards 2023. Her next plans include a gig supporting Rufus Wainwright in May 2024, further cementing her status as one of Scotland's most promising new musical talents.
