Every year since 2011, the Week-End Fest has brought a carefully curated line-up of artists from all over the world to the stages of the Stadtgarten. The lovingly designed program and the specially developed projects of the residency program with international artists and local musicians are the highlights of every festival edition.

Charles Tolliver: Strata-East at 55 (residency program*)
Founded in 1970, Strata-East quickly became an important platform for independent black jazz artists - with a focus on artistic self-determination and political awareness. Label mastermind and co-founder Charles Tolliver played with Jackie McLean and Max Roach, among others, in the 1960s. Especially for the Week-End Fest, he presents a selection of his label's most important compositions. Accompanied by a 10-piece big band of Cologne musicians under the direction of Jorik Bergman.

Garth Erasmus & the Broken String Ensemble
The South African artist explores colonial history, Khoisan heritage and questions of cultural identity through painting, installation and sound.

Angel Bat Dawid & Naima Nefertari
Angel Bat Dawid and Naima Nefertari have created an album deeply rooted in spirituality, exploring themes of ancestral memory, mysticism, cosmic cycles and sisterhood.

Smerz
The Norwegian electronic duo of Catharina Stoltenberg and Henriette Motzfeldt combine elements of dream pop, R&B, classical music and experimental techno.

London-based producer Fred N'thepe presents his new album Rachael - an emotional and introspective journey into his ever-evolving musical identity.
