Mit über 400 Veranstaltungen im Jahr deckt das Programm des STADTGARTENS im Konzertsaal und des STUDIO 672 eine beachtliche kulturelle Bandbreite ab. Im Mittelpunkt des Geschehens steht die Aktuelle Musik in all ihren Erscheinungsformen, ergänzt durch zeitgenössische Literatur und Diskussionsrunden. Eine der auffälligsten Programmfarben ist nach wie vor der Jazz. Hier suchen wir außerhalb der ausgetrampelten Pfade des Mainstream nach neuen Konzepten, präsentieren aber auch bewährte MusikerInnen, Gruppen und ihre zeitlosen Ideen. Eine ganz besondere Aufmerksamkeit widmen wir dabei der aktuellen europäischen Improvisationsmusik. Schließlich entstehen zum Beginn des 21. Jahrhunderts gerade hier die interessantesten Musikformen. Aber auch die aktuelle Entwicklung der ambitionierten Rock- und Popmusik, der Singer-/Songwriter und der Neuen und Elektronischen Musik läßt sich im Programm des STADTGARTEN immer zeitnah verfolgen.

With more than 400 events each year the program of the STADTGARTEN covers an impressive array of concerts, clubnights and readings. Here, different styles of music take the center stage. However, Jazz still is the focal point of the musical program. The Stadtgarten strives to present new and innovative concepts that lead away from cliché-ridden paths and mainstream aspirations, as well as famous musicians and their timeless ideas. In this context, we especially pay attention to developments in present concepts of improvised music. It is here where we find the most interesting shapes and shades of music at the beginning of the 21st century, but also current developments of rock and pop music, new electronic music and singer-/songwriter concepts can also be followed at the Stadtgarten.
